CRIMSON MAPLE - Spring Colors

        Although it looks like this photo was taken in the fall, it was actually taken on 5/02/09 (spring in my part of the world.)  This particular type of maple tree has red leaves in the spring. They usually look darker than this, but I took this photo at sunset when the tree was bathed in yellow light. The leaves will turn to a dark brownish green in a few weeks. When other leaves show bright red in the fall, this one turns more burgundy, then brown.  I have been told it is a Crimson King Maple by a tree specialist.

I have one of these trees in my yard too, and just love it. It's not a large as the one in your photo though. Well done! Happy RT.
