RED STRIPES - Photo Hunt

This week's theme is:
STRIPES

Glass artist, Dale Chihuly, created an enormous exhibit of hand-blown glass to fill every part of the huge Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh during the Spring of 2007.  I love Chihuly's work so much that I took my first outing after knee surgery to his show, hobbling from room to room on a cane.  This photograph shows tall red hand-blown "stripes" against the striped pattern of the greenhouse glass. Each of these pieces is about 4 to 6 feet in height.
See the amazing variety of pieces displayed at the Phipps Conservatory on Chihuly's web site HERE.

I post photos on two different blogs.

I like this! I would have never guessed it was glass! I thought it was some kind of plant or reed. I like the mixture of the glass with the plants.

And thanks for your awesome comments on my book blog the other day! I passed the one on to Heather to enjoy!

The hand blown art fits so well with its surroundings I could believe that they were some kind of exotic tropical plant! :D

Glass blowing is a fascinating art! And what colors and shapes they create! The red stripes among the greenery is fabulous!

I originally thought these were real, tropical or something. So cool that they're glass. Cool photo.

Wow that is superb! I love it.

I'm getting over surgery in the knee area too (ruptured a tendon). I'm still in my cast but I look forward to being able to bend my knee again!

I loved that so many people thought this was a photo of an exotic plant. Chihuly filled the conservatory with such a variety of class works, some that looked like vases, some that looked like leaves, others blossoms, others just large balls of glass. I took a zillion photos and will be using more of the photos of this exhibit in the future.

that is cool the way they try to spruce up nature with crimson glass stripes!

Stan, I always looked at it from the opposite point of view. I thought Chihuly was trying to spruce up his glass art with nature.
